A Practice Built on Listening
Padang Counsel was founded on the belief that good family law practice begins with understanding people, not just documents.
Return to HomeWho We Are
Padang Counsel came together through a shared conviction: that the families who walk through our door during some of the hardest chapters of their lives deserve thoughtful, unhurried legal counsel. The name reflects our connection to Singapore's civic and communal spirit — a place where people come together, negotiate, and find common ground.
Our team has handled matters ranging from relatively straightforward separations to complex cross-border custody disputes. Over the years, we have built a reputation for careful preparation, measured communication, and a genuine commitment to reaching outcomes that hold up — not just in the short term, but in the months and years that follow.
We are based at International Plaza in the Tanjong Pagar district, close to the courts and well connected for clients across the island. While we work within the Singapore legal framework, we are attuned to the diversity of our clients — many of whom have lived, worked, or studied abroad and bring their own perspectives to family matters.
Our practice is deliberately focused. By limiting the scope of what we do to family law and mediation, we maintain a depth of knowledge and attentiveness that a broad-practice firm may find difficult to sustain. Every file receives genuine attention from a qualified member of our team.

Steady Counsel for Difficult Times
Family law is among the most human areas of legal practice. The questions it raises — how to divide a shared life, how to continue parenting from separate households, how to protect a child's relationships with both parents — do not yield to simple formulas. Each family we work with brings its own history, its own complications, and its own aspirations for what comes next.
Padang Counsel has developed its practice around the particular demands of this field. Our team combines knowledge of Singapore family law procedure with the interpersonal skills that complex family situations require. We are familiar with the Family Justice Courts, the processes under the Women's Charter, and the frameworks that govern parenting arrangements in Singapore.
We also invest in staying current. Changes to Singapore's family law framework, judicial guidance from the Court of Appeal, and developments in mediation practice all inform the advice we give. Our clients benefit from counsel that is grounded in current law, not assumptions formed years ago.
