Chua Li Mei
Bishan, Singapore
Going through a divorce is not something I had prepared for. What helped most was that the counsel here didn't rush me. They explained each step clearly and always checked whether I understood before moving on. The process still wasn't easy, but I felt informed throughout — which made a real difference.
Rajesh Subramaniam
Tampines, Singapore
The custody matter was the hardest thing I've dealt with professionally or personally. Arif handled it with a level of sensitivity I hadn't expected from a legal firm. He focused on what would actually work for my son, not just what would look good on paper. I'm genuinely grateful for his guidance.
Patricia Ng
Buona Vista, Singapore
The mediation was something my ex-husband and I agreed to try before pursuing anything more formal. Chia Hui kept the session focused and fair. We managed to reach an agreement on the apartment and on the children's schedule in a single session. It was far less distressing than I had feared.
Mohammed Hafiz
Jurong East, Singapore
My wife and I had decided on the broad terms ourselves, but we needed help making it legally binding. The team drafted consent orders that were thorough and caught several practical gaps we had overlooked — particularly around school holidays and travel. That kind of thoroughness was worth every cent of the fee.
Lim Yi Wen
Bedok, Singapore
I appreciated that Li Shan gave me a realistic picture at the start rather than telling me what I wanted to hear. The divorce took longer than I'd hoped, but she had warned me it might — and when we finally reached the final judgment, the outcome was a fair one. I would trust this firm again.
Siti Khadijah
Queenstown, Singapore
I came in worried about what a contested divorce might cost, financially and otherwise. The team took time to explore whether a mediation approach could work first. It did, and we ended up spending considerably less — and preserving enough goodwill to co-parent reasonably well. That was the outcome I had hoped for.
Case Studies
These accounts describe the nature of certain matters we have handled. All identifying details have been changed to protect our clients.
A Contested Divorce with Business Assets
The Situation
A couple with a jointly-owned small business and two school-age children sought advice on divorce. The business valuation and the division of liquid assets were both contentious, and both parties had strong views on the children's living arrangements.
Our Approach
We engaged an independent valuator for the business, then facilitated a structured negotiation over four sessions. Both parties were helped to separate their parenting priorities from the financial dispute, which proved key to reaching agreement on the children's arrangements first.
The Outcome
A consent order was filed covering asset division, spousal maintenance for three years, and a detailed parenting plan. The matter was resolved without contested proceedings. Timeline: approximately seven months from initial consultation to final orders.
International Relocation Application
The Situation
A mother with sole care and control of a nine-year-old wished to relocate to Australia for professional reasons. The child's father, who had weekly access, opposed the application and sought to vary the care arrangements.
Our Approach
We prepared a comprehensive relocation application addressing the child's educational continuity, the mother's employment situation, and a proposed international access schedule. We also assisted in drafting an access arrangement that preserved the child's meaningful relationship with the father.
The Outcome
The court granted the relocation application with conditions, including video access twice weekly and the father's right to annual extended visits. The access schedule was formalised in a consent variation order agreed by both parties prior to the hearing.
Maintenance Dispute Resolution
The Situation
A separated couple disagreed on child maintenance amounts and the sharing of school and medical expenses. Their dispute had created sustained conflict that was visibly affecting the children. Both parties preferred to avoid court if at all possible.
Our Approach
We conducted pre-mediation meetings with each parent separately, helped both to organise their financial information, and facilitated two joint sessions focused on the children's actual needs rather than positional arguments. A shared expense tracking framework was proposed as part of the agreement.
The Outcome
Both parties signed a maintenance agreement within three weeks of the first session. The agreement included a review clause at two years. The parties subsequently reported that the structured framework had reduced the frequency of financial disputes considerably.
